AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5000 Genesis Peak (Zen3) to Feature 16-Cores

I think it’s time to upgrade my AMD Threader 1950X system … it’s getting a little ‘aged’ lol.

Taken from Videocardz … ccording to the message posted on Twitter, AMD will bring 16-core Ryzen Threadripper SKUs back to the platform. The current generation known as Castle Peak, only offers 24, 32, and 64 core variants.

According to other rumors, the Threadripper 5000 series might also have a different codename: “Chagall”. The Genesis Peak might refer to the platform itself, while Chagall directly to the Threadripper series. However, at this time it is not confirmed. Another theory is that Genesis is a codename for the ‘entry-level’ EPYC series which might also feature 16-core SKUs. However, we were explicitly told by Yuri that his ‘leak’ covers Threadripper as the original information mentions sTRX socket.

AMD has not revealed any details on its next-gen Threadripper platform yet, however, the current generation of Threadripper wasannounced last year at CES 2020. The CPUs launched a month later on February 7th. The series featured 64-core Threadripper 3990X which launched at 3990 USD.
