AMD Ryzen 8000 “Granite Ridge” Comes With 16 Zen 5 cores and 170W TDP

Zen 5 is coming … this time round, AMD … you better fix those voltage issues!

Taken from Videocardz … According to the information shared over the weekend, the next-gen desktop platform known as Granite Ridge will not feature more than 16 cores.

A possible configuration for the next-gen AMD desktop platform was shared by PC Games Hardware and Moore’s Law is Dead. According to the media, the Zen5 series are to offer between 6 and 16 cores codenamed “Nirvana”. The series would rely on an upgraded Zen5 core architecture, with core clusters combined within a new CCDs (Core Complex Dies) called “Eldora”.

The rumor states that there is still a 6-core SKU planned, meaning that both Ryzen 7000 and 8000 series might end up with a very similar lineup after all. There appears to be a discrepancy when it comes to possible launch date for the new series, though.

AMD Ryzen 8000 (“Granite Ridge”)

  • Zen 5 CCDs (“Eldora”)
  • Zen 5 CPU Cores (“Nirvana”)
  • 6 to 16 Zen 5 processor cores
  • 65 to 170 watts of power dissipation (“TDP”)
  • Up to 64 MiByte L3 cache and 16 MiByte L2 cache

This weekend there was a leak from Moore’s Law is Dead featuring the AMD 2022-2025 roadmap of Zen5/Zen5c server products. The key word ‘server’ indicates that Granite Ridge listed on this document does not refer to Ryzen 8000 series, but rather embedded solutions. Nevertheless, it shows that Granite Ridge is indeed limited to 16 cores and has the TDP from 65W to 170W.

More importantly, the slide shows when the product might enter production, which is between Q1 2024 and Q1 2025, but again this may refer to non-gaming platform, which always arrives later (up to a year).
