ASRock X570 PG Velocita Motherboard Review

In the past few months, ASRock have recently introduced a new selection of motherboards called PG Velocita. The PG Velocita is a brand new high end product line under the Phantom Gaming family, and is packed full of features, while offering great looks and performance. So, today we’ll be taking a quick look at the ASRock X570 PG Velocita motherboard, which utilizes the X570 chipset and supports all of the latest Ryzen processors from AMD, including the 2000, 3000, 4000 G-Series and 5000 Series. It also supports PCIE 4.0 and memory speeds of up to DDR4-5000+ (OC).

Other attractive features include the onboard Killer WiFi6 and 2.5GB LAN, 7.1 HD Nahimic Audio, and as well as 3 x USB 3.2 Gen2 (Rear Type A+C, Front Type-C), and 10 x USB 3.2 Gen1 (4 Front, 6 Rear)!

The motherboard also comes with 2 x Hyper M.2 slots that supports PCIE 4.0, as well as 2 x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots and 3 x PCIe 4.0 x1 slot. And as usual, it comes with ASRock’s unique features as as the 14 Power Phase Design, Digi Power, Dr. MOS and of course Polychrome sync.

One thing I like about this motherboard, are the onboard power-on/off and reset buttons, as well as the diagnostic LEDs. These features are usually found on higher-end models, so you already begin to know, what to expect in terms of performance and quality.

We’ve already reviewed the original ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming X last year, and it proved to be an excellent motherboard. So you’re probably asking … what’s the difference between the PG Velocita and the Phantom Gaming X?

Well, apart from the price difference (Phantom Gaming X  being more pricey) and as far as I can tell, the X570 Phantom Gaming X comes with a little more RGB LEDs, and has an extra PCIE 4.0 slot, which means it gives you more options for configuring NVIDIA NVLink, Quad SLI, or AMD 3-Way CrossFireX. There’s also a large, full coverage, XXL Aluminum alloy heatsink which looks really cool. Apart from that, they’re literally the same board.

I would like to thank ASRock for providing the review sample. This is a snippet from what ASRock has to say about themselves on their website:

ASRock Inc. is established in 2002, specialized in the field of motherboards. ASRock strives to build up its own brand. With the 3C design concept, “Creativity, Consideration, Cost-effectiveness”, the company explores the limit of motherboards manufacturing while paying attention on the eco issue at the same time, developing products with the consideration of eco-friendly concept.

ASRock has been growing fast and become world third largest motherboard brand with headquarter in Taipei, Taiwan and branches in Europe and the USA. The young and vibrant company targets from mainstream to enthusiast MB segments for different kinds of users, owning reputation around the world market with its reliability and proficiency.

We’ll be testing the motherboard using our Ryzen 5 5600X featuring 6 cores/12 threads with onboard, 16GB of Antec Katana DDR-3600, along with a 500GB PCIE Gen4 SSD from Gigabyte. I’m expecting the results to be similar to other X570 motherboards we’ve tested in the past.

Let’s dive straight in and begin by taking a look at the specifications and features in the next page. You can buy the original ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming X motherboard for around USD $349 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/37RFlaz

The Box and Packaging

You get the usual box and packaging from ASRock. You’ll find a quick installation guide, software setup guide, 2 packs of SATA cables (pair), 2 x M.2 screws and mounts, and WIFI antenna for your WIFI6.

There’s also an ASRock envelope which contains all the usual ASRock stickers, post cards, velcro cable straps and drivers disc.

The ASRock X570 PG Velocita Motherboard

I like the matte black and red design of the motherboard, as well as the XXL Aluminum Alloy Heatsink and built-in flexible I/O shield.

The two heatsinks for the M.2 slots are separate, which means it’s much easier to access and install your M.2 SSDs without having to remove a large full coverage heatsink, unlike on some motherboards.

A Closer Look

The motherboard comes packed with a load of expansion slots including … 8 x SATA ports, 2 x PCIE 3.0 x16 slot, 3 x PCIE 4.0 x1 slots, 2 x PCIE 4.0 M.2 slot for SSDs, and 4 x DIMM slots supporting memory speeds of up to DDR4 5000+ (O.C.).

I also like the onboard power-on/off and reset buttons, as well as the diagnostic LEDs, and of course the included active fan for cooling the X570 chipset.

For connectivity, on the rear I/O panel, you’ll find BIOS flashback button, 2 connectors for your WIFI antenna,  DisplayPort, HDMI, 4 x USB 3.2 Gen1, USB 3.2 Gen2 (Rear Type A+C, Front Type-C, Killer 2.5GB LAN, some more USB 3.2 connectors, and the usual array of connectors for HD audio.

Verdict and Conclusion

The ASRock X570 PG Velocita without doubt, one of the best gaming motherboards you can get on the market, both in terms of features and performance. Better still, you wouldn’t believe the price when you compare it with other high-end X570 motherboards. It’s currently on sale at Newegg for around USD $265.

What makes this motherboard stand out, is the amount of features that it offers which is just, way too long to list. And just to mention a few, you get the onboard Killer WiFi6 and 2.5GB LAN, the 7.1 HD Nahimic Audio, and as well as USB 3.2 Gen2 and Thunderbolt support. There’s also 2 x PCIE 4.0 x16 slots and 2 x Hyper M.2 slot for PCIE Gen4 SSDs, not to mention you get all of ASRock’s unique features such as the 14 Power Phase Design, Digi Power, Dr. MOS, onboard power-on/off and reset buttons, and of course Polychrome sync. Wow!

During our tests, we got excellent scores all round, including a Cinebench R23 score of 10,429, and a PassMark9 score of 6,794. For PCMark 10, we got a score of 7,930, which is more than I expected. And for UL’s latest Procyon Photo Editing Benchmark, we got an impressive score of 8,059. For 3DMark Port Royal we got a score of 6,713 with a DLSS score of 45.03 fps. And finally, for Timespy and Firestrike, we got excellent scores of 10,688 and 24,239 respectively. All-in-all, I’m extremely happy with the results especially when we’re only using a Ryzen 5 5600X processor.

It’s never been a better time to purchase an AMD system (or to build one). Their recently launched Ryzen 5000 series processors, along with their newest Radeon RX 6000 series of graphics cards go hand-in-hand, to bring you exceptional performance and extraordinary value for money.

The ASRock X570 PG Velocita was only launched recently, so there isn’t really a MSRP yet, but I expect the price to be around USD $250-280. However, if you can’t wait you can buy the original ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming X motherboard for around USD $349 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/37RFlaz

Final Words:

If you’re after a X570 motherboard that offers the best in performance, features and price, then there’s only one to go for… and that’s the ASRock X570 PG Velocita. You won’t find another one like it. It’s absolutely packed with great features, with excellent performance to match, at a price that’s just unbelievably attractive. It’s an AMD3D ‘Must-Have’.
