ASRock B650 Steel Legend WiFi Motherboard Review

Review by Funky Kit.

Our sister site Funky Kit published a review of the ASRock B650 Steel Legend WiFi Motherboard … you can check out the full review here.

We’ve all seen motherboards in an all-white/silver design in the past. It’s nothing new, but for some reason, there’s been a trend lately of manufacturers, releasing more and more all-white/silver motherboards. To name a few, we have the Colorful CVN B760M FROZEN WIFI, the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS PRO X, and there’s plenty more from Asus and MSI too.

This trend however, can be explained quite easily. Just look at the recent chassis being released from NZXT, such as the NZXT H6 Flow, with its gorgeous all-white design, and panoramic glass panels with a seamless edge. Or the visually stunning Lian-Li O11 Vision, with its three sides of column-less glass panels to provide the most seamless view of components.

Whatever the reason, all-white motherboards are here to stay. And producing these motherboards that offer good performance yet affordable, is the key to success. So has ASRock done this with their B650 Steel Legend WiFi? Well, I have to say yes  … here’s why 👇

It supports all the latest AMD Ryzen 8000 and 7000 Series of processors, and support memory speeds of up to DDR5-7200+ OC. It comes packed with features including the support for PCIE Gen5 for both GPUs and NVMe SSDs, plus it comes in an all-white/sliver design.

During our tests, we used an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor and a Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card. We managed to get some really good scores in all of our benchmarks, including a Cinebench R23 scores of 17,295 (multi core) and 1,668 (single core). For PCMark 10, we got a score of 9,728, and a score of 9,628 for PassMark10.

For UL’s latest Procyon Photo Editing Benchmark, we got a really good score of 9,075 and 8,048 for the video editing suite. For 3DMark Speed Way and Port Royal, we got decent scores of 6,303 and 16,440 respectively. And finally, for Timespy and Firestrike, we got phenomenal scores of 25,392 and 50,100 respectively.

Graphics output for the motherboard includes 1 x HDMI 2.1 port and 1 x DisplayPort 1.4. And if you want USB connectivity … there’s plenty. A total of 19 x USB ports, which includes 1 x 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A (Rear), 8 x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A (4 Rear, 4 Front) and 8 x USB 2.0 (4 Rear, 4 Front).

The motherboard comes with the Dragon 2.5G LAN and 802.11ax (WiFi 6E) + Bluetooth, which is plenty more than enough for most gamers, content creators and streamers.

And finally, you get all of ASRock’s unique features such as the 7.1 HD Nahimic Audio, Dr. MOS, 20K capacitors, 8-layer PCB, and of course ASRock’s Polychrome RGB.

You can buy something similar, the ASRock B650E Steel Legend motherboard for around USD $269 from Amazon  https://amzn.to/3tOgrr8

Final Words:

Not only does the ASRock B650 Steel Legend WiFi look aesthetically gorgeous, but also offer decent performance and a great set of features, at a price that’s attractively affordable. Put this motherboard into any all-glass panel chassis (with a panoramic view), and prepare to wow your friends.
