AMD Embedded Roadmap Shows Zen 4 EPYC with 64+ Cores

Nice! It’s coming … 5nm Zen 4 EPYC with 64+ Cores coming in 2023 …

Taken from Videocardz … he roadmap is clearly dated, as it lists the already released Zen3 EPYC 7003 series as ‘concept’. It also lacks the Ryzen V2000 Embedded series, which were released last year with Zen2 cores. Regardless of these obvious facts, it is always interesting to see what was AMD planning and how well it executed over time.

At the time this slide was made, AMD was planning the next-gen EPYC 3004 series which would feature up to 32 cores and 64 threads. The TDP range would increase slightly over EPYC 3001 series, which were based on Zen1 core from 60-100W to 64-120W.

There is no V4000 Zen4 Embedded series listed on this roadmap yet, but assuming it is at least a year old, this shouldn’t really be that surprising. Low-power embedded Ryzen CPUs usually lag in comparison to the high-end desktop and server market.

The fact Zen4 EPYC series are to feature more cores is not a surprise anymore. Back in February, we had a leak from ExecutableFix, who came up with a mockup of the upcoming EPYC 7004 package (based on original AMD schematics). The upcoming CPU is to feature more chiplets, which automatically increases the number of cores. There were also leaks from Chiphell, which listed >64 cores for Zen4 core in general.
