AMD Radeon RX 6950XT Could Have 18 Gbps Memory

Does faster video memory make a real difference? Apparently so … watch out for new graphics cards featuring this new and faster 18 Gbps memory.

Taken from Videocardz … Following multiple reports this week about the updated AMD desktop series of graphics cards, there is another rumor regarding its launch date. According to YouTuber coreteks, who has correctly predicted multiple AMD launches in the past (a prime example being AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution launch), believes that Radeon RX 6950XT is set for mid-April launch. This is much sooner than reported by Greymon55, who has said the series should not be expected till at least June.

Furthermore, he says that there is no such card as RX 6850XT planned, which would suggest that not all Navi 21 cards are getting a refresh.

This rumor comes just hours after Moore’s Law is Dead confirmed with his sources that the refresh will not see any 6nm node upgrade. MLID YouTuber specifically mentioned 6950XT, 6850XT, and 6750XT SKUs in his report.

AMD Radeon RX 6x50XT series is mainly to offer upgraded memory speed to 18 Gbps, which on paper is a minor 12.5% spec bump but it may put AMD ahead of some recently announced GeForce RTX 30 and upcoming Intel ARC graphics card.

Interestingly, coreteks says that there is no Radeon RX 6850XT planned, which means that 6950XT might be the only Navi 21 card getting an update. However, this week has already been full of leaks regarding the new series, so we might just as well wait at this point for another set of rumors about the Radeon 6000 XT.
